The Chester County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) provides an
opportunity for students in grades 6-12 to experience the joy
of making music with a full symphony orchestra, and allows them
to meet fellow musicians from school districts across Chester
County. The Orchestra is sponsored by the Chester County
Intermediate Unit.
Last season (2007—2008), the orchestra again presented an exciting program for our fall and spring concerts (see the schedule). The musicians performed the following pieces:
Egmont Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven
Selections from “Porgy and Bess” by George Gershwin
Suite for Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Piano Trio (2. Sereiene and 3. Enjouèe) by Claude Bolling
Hoedown from “Rodeo” by Aaron Copland
Finale from Symphony No. 4 in F minor by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Excerpts from the Firebird Suite
by Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky
Symphonic Highlights from “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End” by Hans Zimmer
Stars and Stripes Forever by J. P. Sousa
