From Mr. Breton:
First violin auditions for any 2nd violinists who are interested will be this Wednesday, January 25th. Auditions will follow the same format as orchestra entrance auditions. This information is listed on the "Auditions" page.
Auditions for the Spring 2012 season will be held on January 18th, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 610-524-0943.
On January 31, a quartet of CCYO musicians will perform at the Devereux Foundation in Dowingtown for some of their music students. Our young musicians, a cello, two violins and one viola, will visit Devereux from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. and play a number of selections and perform as a quartet, duet and a solo. The Devereux students will be from a variety of grades and after our students perform they will stay for conversation and questions.

A reminder to bring music stands to all concerts. Also, please remember appropriate Concert Dress for all Concerts:
Ladies: Long or ¾ sleeved long black gown, or long black skirt or long black pants with a long or ¾ sleeved black top, black dress shoes, and black hose. No fringe, no glitter, no midriff showing please.
Genlemen: Black tuxedo or suit, or black jacket and black dress pants, white dress shirt, black bow tie, black socks, black dress shoes.

Our Fall 2011 Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 6:50 pm (during rehearsal) in the cafeteria at Lionville. This meeting is for all parents, not just parents of new members.

The music list for the string seating
auditions is now available.
The Chester County Youth Orchestra annually hosts a benefit concert in which proceeds of ticket sales and donations are provided to an organization that provides vital community services. The orchestra is pleased to announce that this year's concert will benefit the Andrew L. Hicks Jr Foundation.
The Foundation aims to identify opportunities, organize volunteers, and provide the leadership necessary to make a difference in the lives of youth in the City of Chester and the students at Henderson High School. The Board has identified short term, medium range and long term goals by looking through Andrew‘s eyes for those things that were most meaningful to him.
Just as last year, a representative from the beneficiaries will visit the orchestra to discuss the goals of the foundation. So let's make some great music in support of this worthy foundation!

Here is a short documentary of CCYO that is both informative and entertaining. It was filmed and edited in the Spring and Summer of 2009 with additional footage from a past holiday concert. It was produced by Nathan Breton, a former CCYO member, who is now a Cinema/Photography major at Ithaca College. For those who want to learn more about CCYO, this is a good place to start!
